Unwrapping Joy: GTHS Annual Holiday Open House 2023 Recap

Dear GTHS Community,

What a magical evening it was at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s Annual Holiday Open House on December 7, 2023! We were overjoyed to welcome individuals of all ages from our community for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, access to our beloved pets, and a celebration of the incredible impact this region has on the day-to-day operations at the GTHS.

A Heartfelt Thank You for Your Generosity

We are thrilled to announce that our wish list received an abundance of donations from our generous community. Your support ensures that pets of all ages have everything they need while awaiting their next home. Pet champions of all ages arrived throughout the evening, happily delivering loads of wish list items under the tree.

In addition to the wish list items, we were humbled by the generous donations we received. Your financial contributions allow us to continue our mission of helping pets in need, ensuring they find their next home with the people who love them. Your commitment to our cause is truly heartwarming.

An Exclusive Peek Behind the Scenes

Guests had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of our facility, witnessing firsthand the dedication of our staff and volunteers and all the amazing work that takes place in such tight quarters. Our facility on Tenth Line was designed to support up to 500 pets each year, but in 2023 we are on track to support nearly 4,000 pets. The heart and soul that is poured into our operations every day were on full display, showcasing the love and care provided to pets of all ages in our charge.  Guests also got a first look at our new Regional Centre for Pets and People, with an exclusive viewing of the building fly-through video by Lett Architects.

 Unveiling New GTHS “Mission Merch”: Look Good and Do Good!

The excitement didn’t stop there – we unveiled our latest ‘Mission Merch’ collection of GTHS clothing during the Open House. Show your support for our cause with stylish and comfortable merchandise, now available for purchase. Not only will you look good, but you will also be doing good, as every item you buy goes directly towards supporting the pets of the GTHS.

Cheers to Community Impact: Sponsored by Karnevore Mountain

The evening was made even more special with complimentary beverages generously donated by Georgian Hills VineyardArterra Wines Canada, and The Collingwood Brewery. Food donations were provided by MetroSobeysLoblaws, and Tim Hortons at 281 First Street, Collingwood.

Special Donor Matching: Doubling the Impact

Thanks to a local, anonymous donor, all donations made at the Holiday Open House, and online on December 7th, was matched up to $3,000. The commitment of this generous donor to double the impact of donations received this holiday season further exemplifies the power of our community coming together for a common cause and together we raised over $7,000!

Karnevore Mountain Raw Pet Food’s Generous Contribution

The highlight of the night was the special cheque presentation by Karnevore Mountain Raw Pet Food, donating a remarkable $75,000 to support the GTHS. This generous contribution wrapped the evening in a bow of impact, and will go so far in supporting the pets in our care.

Celebrity Guest: Eddie the Bowtie Cat

Adding a touch of celebrity glamour to the event, Eddie the Bowtie Cat graced us with his presence. Eddie, a proud annual fundraiser, contributed $2,250 to our cause. His commitment to our mission is truly inspiring.
