At GTHS Dog School, we focus on positive, humane-based training that helps dogs and their guardians build skills, confidence, and a stronger bond. Using reward-based methods, dogs learn essential cues including off, sit, stay, recall (come/here), and drop, in a supportive learning environment.

The early months matter. Our Puppy Basics class is designed for puppies in their critical developmental stage using science-based, force-free training methods that build confidence, trust, and clear communication.
In this class, you and your puppy will work on:
- Proper equipment and training foundations
- House training and crate success
- Name recognition and engagement
- Polite greetings and early social skills
- Sit, Down, and Place
- Intro to Stay and impulse control
- Loose leash walking
- Recall (come when called)
We maintain a strict 8-puppy limit to ensure personalized coaching and support for every family.

It’s never too late to build strong foundations. Our Adult Basics class is designed for adolescent and adult dogs who are ready to learn (or revisit) essential life skills using science-based, force-free training methods that build clarity, confidence, and reliability.
This class builds on the same foundation as Puppy Basics — but Puppy Basics is not required to enroll.
In this class, you and your dog will work on:
- Proper equipment and training foundations
- Building engagement and focus around distractions
- Polite greetings and manners
- Sit, Down, and Place with reliability
- Stay and impulse control
- Loose leash walking
- Focus skills (“Look at Me”)
- Touch
- Recall (come when called)
- Real-life skills for everyday situations
We maintain a strict 8-dog limit to ensure personalized coaching and support for every team.

Please Note: Make-up classes will be scheduled on Mondays or Tuesdays.
If a class falls on a statutory holiday, the session will be moved to the next available Monday or Tuesday. If both make-up days conflict with a holiday, an alternate date will be communicated to participants.
REGISTER YOUR DOG
Looking for an introduction to training, or a quick brush-up for your puppy or dog? Summer workshops are the perfect fit when you need a flexible schedule and accessible training opportunities! These are designed for you to sign up for the dates and topics that fit your needs.
With workshops for both puppies and adult dogs (8 months+), these are small group courses with an experienced and credentialled trainer. Workshops are science-informed, skills-based, and designed around how dogs actually learn.
Would your dog benefit from one-on-one support from our trainer? We’re excited to introduce Behaviour Support, with a range of services available. Offering a Behavioural Modification Package (1 hour in-person consultation with a custom training plan and follow-up), Basic Training (two 30 minute in-person sessions), and À La Carte Follow Ups.
We value accessible support for pet families, and have sliding scale fees available for rescue adopters, seniors, and low-income households.
Behaviour Modification Package
Best for: Reactivity, anxiety, resource guarding, fear, or complex behavioral issues.
Get professional guidance to navigate challenging behaviors safely and effectively.
Included:
- 1-Hour In-Person Consultation: Direct assessment and history gathering.
- Custom Written Training Plan: A step-by-step guide tailored to your dog.
- Plan Review: A guided walkthrough of your new plan.
- 2 Weeks of Email Support: Direct access to your trainer for any questions.
- Progress Follow-Up: A dedicated check-in at the 2-week mark to adjust your plan
Cost: $180 +HST
Basic Training Package
Best for: Manners, leash pulling, jumping, recall, or basic commands.
Need help with everyday manners? This quick-start package gives you focused, one-on-one coaching to get your dog on the right track.
- Two 30-Minute In-Person Sessions: Focused, hands-on training time.
- Direct Coaching: Practice skills and timing right alongside your trainer.
Cost: $80 + HST
À La Carte Follow Ups
Best for: Clients who completed the Behavior Modification Package but want extra hands-on coaching.
Keep your momentum going! Add extra 30-minute blocks to fine-tune your techniques.
- Single 30-Minute Session: $45 + tax
- Two-Session Bundle: $80 + tax (Save $10)

We believe that financial constraints should never stand in the way of a dog getting the help they need to stay in their home.
If our standard rates are a financial barrier for your family, please let us know. We offer subsidized pricing on our behavior packages (down to $90) for rescue adopters, seniors, and low-income households. Speak with Erika when booking to find a rate that works for you.

MEET THE TRAINER
Erika Ehrenreich, CPDT-KA
Erika is the Pet Support Service Supervisor at the GTHS and oversees the Dog School program with a focus on science-based, force-free training that actually works.
She specializes in working with dogs who struggle with fear, reactivity, or big emotions — helping them build confidence and learn new skills in a supportive environment.
Her approach centers on emotional safety and emotional regulation. In practical terms, that means creating training spaces where dogs feel secure, understood, and set up for success — and teaching them how to manage strong emotions so they can respond instead of react.
Certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), Erika is committed to professional standards, continuing education, and ethical training practices. Her goal is simple: build stronger bonds between dogs and their people through clear communication and positive reinforcement.
