It’s back! The 12th annual GTHS Walk for Pets event on June 15th at Harbourview Park in Collingwood! Supported by Caron Shepley’s Paws 4 Cause, this year’s event takes place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Registration is $40.00 for an individual, or $70.00 for a family. Keep reading to find out more details about the day, and to register!

NEW FOR 2024

Walk or Run: This year we have added a running option. Participants can register for a timed 5K fun run, or a fun 2.5K walk.  This event has something for everyone in the family – even your dogs, if they do well around other pets, people, and on a leash.

Rainbow Bridge: Introducing a new way to save pets. Show your heart on the Rainbow Bridge by honouring your beloved pets while saving pets in need in South Georgian Bay. Each donation places a heart tag on the Rainbow Bridge on the Walk For Pets route.

Once again, the Collingwood Brewery is providing a satellite beer garden and we are excited to have Strange Potatoes to provide fantastic entertainment. Enjoy exciting prizes and giveaways, take part in face painting, capture memories at our photo booth, and shop for the latest in pet products. Plus, refuel with a complimentary pizza lunch to keep you energized all day long. Bring your chair and blanket.

Register now as a family, as an individual, or as a team to secure your spot in this amazing event. This year our fundraising goal is $135,000. All proceeds raised go directly to funding essential day-to-day operations that provides compassionate care for the thousands of South Georgian Bay pets that come to the GTHS every year.

Walk for Pets is a great team builder, networking opportunity, and a chance to show the community that you believe in animal welfare and the human-animal bond. Participating in Walk for Pets means you will help support GTHS programs and services, including:

  • The GTHS Hospital, which is one of the only low-cost spay-neuter hospitals operating in a wide geographic region, performs 3,000 surgeries annually.
  • GTHS Access to Care Services, which helps keep 3,000 pets together with their families during emergencies and crisis and out of the shelter system.
  • GTHS Adoption Services, which helps find loving homes for 1,300 animals annually.
  • GTHS Lifelong Learning Programs, that have impacted more than 4,000 youth through after school and online programming.

This year’s event also welcomes the support from Paws 4 Cause, in honour of Caron Shepley, a life-long animal lover who dedicated her life to raising money to support animal causes before her untimely passing in September of last year. We cannot wait to welcome the Paws 4 Cause network of animal advocates and running enthusiasts to Collingwood to take part in Walk for Pets.
