Community Awareness Ambassador

The Georgian Triangle Humane society is a non-for-profit charity that works to provide innovative programs and compassionate services to pets and people in the south Georgian Bay region and beyond. We rely heavily on a variety of activities to raise awareness and funds to help the dogs and cats in our care.

In 2023, by promoting GTHS programs and services, more than 1500 homeless cats and dogs were provided shelter and 1300 animals found their forever home, 4000 youth were positively impacted, approximately 3000 spay/neuter/dental/specialized surgeries were performed, 2784 donors supported our mission and 1000 pets were supported through our Pet Pantry program.

Description
Reporting to the Annual Fund Manager, the GTHS Community Awareness Ambassador is the front-line person representing and providing the first impression of our organization to the public at third party events, (farmers’ or artisan markets, community organization open house, etc.). This role is integral to promoting GTHS programs, services and events within the community.
Time Commitment
4-6 hours on an ad hoc basis (mainly daytime on Saturdays)
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates pick-up / drop-off of the GTHS Event Kit, banners, folding tables, posters, coin boxes, etc. before / after use
  • Liaises with the Annual Fund Manager about any damages or losses incurred, and to ensure sufficient quantities of materials are available within the Event Kit
  • Displays materials for maximum impact
  • Neatly tidies away materials, to avoid damage and for ease of use at the next event
  • Greets and welcomes the public as they arrive at the GTHS booth
  • Discusses GTHS events, programs and services
  • Answers questions about the organization
  • Accepts donations (financial or in-kind)
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age minimum
  • A commitment to animal welfare
  • Neat and tidy appearance
  • Self-motivated
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Friendly and personable attitude
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Able to work independently or within a small team, and with the public
  • Access to transportation
Working Conditions:
  • Physical demands of the position include standing for a prolonged period, as well as carrying and lifting (Event Kit, folding tables, banners, etc.)
