All profits from sales go directly to supporting the Animal Centre and historically Treasure Tails has been one of the GTHS’ largest fundraisers.

Description
Reporting to the GTHS Fundraising Coordinator, the Social Media Volunteer will help create content for the Treasure Tails Facebook account. This role will involve taking photographs of select products in-store (when the store is closed) and posting them on the TT Facebook account with descriptions.
Time Commitment
Approximately 1 hour in-store once to twice a week and up to 2-3 hours per week creating and scheduling posts. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Main areas of responsibility:
  • Work with the Fundraising Coordinator on a strategy for marketing the Treasure Tails store on Facebook, and brainstorm unique and engaging posts
  • Visit the Treasure Tails store to photograph items of interest
  • Schedule posts in the GTHS Content Calendar
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age minimum
  • A recent police check is required
  • Social media savvy (Facebook especially)
  • Experience in Communications and/or Marketing and Sales
  • Access to a smartphone that can take high resolution photos
  • Light graphic design skills would be an asset
  • Experience with website maintenance
  • Self-motivated, with proven ability to complete tasks with competency and accuracy
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with others
  • Access to transportation

Customer Service Treasure Tails Volunteer

Description
As a Treasure Tails Customer Service Volunteer, you will report to the Store Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day customer service operations at the store, including sales, interacting with customers, money transactions, light housekeeping of the store premises and arranging items for display. You will also be expected to promote awareness of the GTHS, its public programs, promotions and the Animal Centre.
Time Commitment
Able to commit to a minimum of one shift per week, Sunday to Wednesday 10.45am until approximately 3.30pm, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 9.45am until approximately 1pm or from 1pm until approximately 5pm (shifts available will be discussed at time of application), or regular ad hoc shift coverage. Volunteers are expected to familiarize themselves with new items instore and special promotions at the start of their shift. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Main areas of responsibility:
  • Provide assistance and excellent customer service to customers instore
  • Respond to telephone / in person enquiries
  • Coordinate with donors to book computerized donations appointments
  • Proactively promote items on special offer
  • Handle money and electronic sales transactions
  • Record purchases by hand
  • Wrap / bag purchases
  • Sanitize counter between every customer
  • Monitor customers’ movements and blind spots for theft prevention purposes
  • Respond to / refer enquiries relating to GTHS services and the animal centre
  • After closing, tally day’s transactions, then photograph and email Daily Receipts slips
  • Sweeping / vacuuming and mopping prior to store opening or after closing
  • Follow appropriate protocol, policies and procedures
Assistance when store is less busy:
  • Assist with acceptance of items being donated, if / as appropriate
  • Assist with merchandising of incoming goods and / or filling gaps post-sale (hanging and on shelves)
  • Tidy and replenish jewellery and watch displays, as appropriate
  • Dusting and maintain tidy store
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • A recent police check is required
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Retail or customer service experience is helpful but not a requirement
  • Able to engage with the public, in an outgoing and polite manner, on behalf of Treasure Tails and the GTHS
  • Comfortable using the telephone and an electronic calendar (such as Outlook)
  • Able and comfortable photographing and emailing images from personal cellphone
  • Able to add, subtract and calculate percentages (a calculator is available)
  • Confident handling money and sales transactions
  • Able to stand for several hours, to climb a short step ladder and to assist with occasional heavy loads (large décor pieces or furniture)

As a Treasure Tails Donations Volunteer, you will report to the Store Manager and will assist with receiving, pricing and merchandising good quality, saleable items being donated to the store by members of our community. You will also be expected to promote awareness of the GTHS, its public programs, promotions and the Animal Centre.
Time Commitment
Able to commit to a minimum of 2 two and a half hour shifts per week, Wednesday to Saturday 9am-11.30pm (shifts available will be discussed at time of application). Volunteers are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their shift, to prepare for the first donations appointment of the day and for any personal shopping. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the arrival of incoming donations
    • Ensure items are ‘Approved Donations’ and are in saleable condition
    • As appropriate, politely decline donations and recommend other outlets
    • Represent the GTHS and Treasure Tails in a professional manner
    • Respond to donor enquiries relating to the organization, its services and programs
    • Thank donors for their generosity
    • Carry boxes / bags from donors’ vehicles into the receiving area
    • Sanitize door between donors, as appropriate
  • Price items consistently, following guidelines
  • Merchandise items in store, following best practices
  • Maintain a tidy receiving area
  • Group packing materials for re-use instore or to be recycled / thrown away
  • Flatten unwanted cardboard boxes and dispose of recycling / garbage
  • Follow appropriate protocol, policies and procedures
Qualifications

Jewellery Volunteer – Treasure Tails Team

Description
Task Specific Treasure Tails Volunteers report to the Store Manager and will provide assistance within their field of expertise or area of interest, (identification / cleaning / carding / pricing of jewellery / watches / purses, window dressing, storage of seasonal items, research, transportation, assistance at estate donations, etc.). All Treasure Tails Volunteers are expected to promote awareness of the GTHS; its programs, services, events and the Animal Centre. Based on the role undertaken, this position may require volunteering from home, offsite and / or whilst the store is closed.
Time Commitment
This position is ideal for applicants who do not wish to volunteer in-store or are unable to commit to a specific day and time for their shift. Based on the role undertaken, Task Specific Volunteers’ hours will vary (from several hours each week, to only a few hours each month). A minimum of commitment of 6 months is required.
