Donor Engagement Volunteer

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society is a not-for-profit charity that provides abandoned, neglected and abused domestic animals a second chance in life at a forever home. Because the GTHS receives no government funding, we rely on the generosity of our donors and supporters to fulfil our mission of delivering innovative programs and compassionate services that enhance the lives of pets in need and the people that care for them. We are immensely grateful to the 2350 donors who supported our organization in 2022.

Description
Donor Engagement Volunteers report to the Senior Manager of Philanthropy, Donor Relations Specialist, and/or the Annual Giving Manager to gain guidance in fostering positive relationships with donors. by contacting them upon becoming a regular donor or after donating to a ‘signature’ event or campaign. These volunteers will contact identified regular donors or signature event donors and may participate in regular Donor Relations Team meetings to collaborate on ideas that will enhance the relationships that leadership and legacy donors have with the GTHS, to inspire higher levels of giving. This is a remote volunteer position (with occasional onsite activities) and volunteers will utilize their own computer or tablet, telephone and internet.
Time Commitment
Approximately 2-3 hours per week and a meeting commitment of 1 hour per month.  A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Participation in monthly Donor Relations Team meeting with the Senior Manager of Philanthropy, Donor Relations Specialist, and/or Annual Giving Manager – virtual or in-person
  • Independent conversations with donor contacts via email, in person, and / or telephone
  • Performs independent research on subject matter when required
  • May be asked to participate in donor engagement activities such as donor tours of the Animal Centre
  • Networking and relationship building
  • Acquiring a solid knowledge of the GTHS and fundraising best practices
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age minimum
  • A commitment to animal welfare
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates attention to detail
  • Interest in donor development
  • Able to work independently
  • Access to internet and phone
  • Own computer / tablet

Media Volunteer

The Georgian Triangle Humane society is a non-for-profit charity that works to provide innovative programs and compassionate services to pets and people in the south Georgian Bay region and beyond.

We rely heavily on a variety of activities to raise awareness and funds to support our programs and services. The Media Volunteer helps us to understand what drives people to connect with our organization, which in turn helps us plan our communication strategies.

Description
The Media Volunteer reports to the Marketing & Public Relations Manager (or delegate) and follows publications on a weekly basis to help the GTHS see where exposure is being gained and monitors how the organization is mentioned in the press. Media tracking may be completed from home and/or at the Animal Centre. Filing takes place at the Animal Centre.
Time Commitment
Approximately 1 hour per week, ideally every Friday (following print deadlines on Thursdays).  A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • 18 years of age minimum
  • A commitment to animal welfare
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates attention to detail
  • Interest in media is an asset
  • Able to work independently
  • Access to radio and internet
  • Access to transportation
Qualifications
  • Setting up Google Alert: Georgian Triangle Humane Society
  • Following publications on a weekly or monthly basis, as appropriate
  • Sourcing and reviewing media in print and magazine format
  • Reviewing online media
  • Clipping or printing any mentions of the GTHS in print, web, radio and in magazines (magazines are monitored quarterly)
  • Filing GTHS clippings/printings at the Animal Centre

Description
Donor Stewardship Volunteers report to the Fundraising Administrator and foster positive relationships with donors by thanking them (by telephone, email, letter or greeting card) for their in-kind support of GTHS programs and services. These volunteers are invited to collaborate on ideas that will enhance the relationship donors have with the GTHS, to inspire giving.   This is a hybrid volunteer position. Depending on tasks undertaken, volunteers will be home-based and utilize their own computer or tablet, telephone and internet (with occasional onsite activities), or may assist with written communications before, during or after a scheduled shift at the Animal Centre (time and space permitting) and continue any remaining tasks at home.
Time Commitment
1-3 hours per week.  A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Acquiring a solid knowledge of the GTHS
  • Independent conversations with donor contacts via email* and / or telephone*
  • ‘Thank you’ card writing*
  • Occasional assistance with mailings, for example:
    • Placing correspondence in envelopes
    • Adding address labels to envelopes
    • Adding stamps to envelopes
  • Collaborating with the Fundraising Administrator on ideas to improve communications with donors

  • Self-motivated and demonstrates attention to detail
  • Able to work independently
  • Legible and attractive cursive handwriting**

Description
Donor Program Volunteers report to the Annual Giving Manager.  They meet to collaborate on ideas that will enhance the relationships that leadership and legacy donors have with the charity, to inspire higher levels of giving. These volunteer roles are remote positions, utilizing their own computer or tablet, telephone and internet (for video conferencing, etc.).
Time Commitment
Approximately 1 hour per week for independent research.  Meeting commitment is 1 hour per month.  A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.

  • Participation in monthly meeting (approximately 1 hour in length) with Donor Relations Coordinator and Executive Director (when availability permits)
  • Independent conversations with donor contacts via email and phone when required
