For so long, this project has lived in plans, renderings, conversations, and fundraising goals. Now, to walk through the structure itself and stand inside the space where so much important work will happen in the future is something else entirely. It is starting to feel real in a whole new way.
A few weeks ago, members of our team had the opportunity to take an interior tour of the building. Seeing the framing overhead, the scale of the space, and the layout beginning to come together gave all of us a much deeper sense of what this Centre will mean for our organization and for the communities we serve.
Construction continues to move forward in meaningful ways. The crew is starting to thaw the ground so work can begin on plumbing, and they are now starting to work on the roof as well. With every new phase, you can see the momentum building.
What struck me most during the tour was how much easier it is getting to picture the future. Spaces that once existed only on paper are becoming real. You can begin to understand how this building will function, how people and pets will move through it, and how thoughtfully it has been designed to support the work we do every day.
This new Centre will allow the GTHS to do more for this region. It will help us better serve pets and the people who love them. It will give us the space and infrastructure needed to grow, respond, and meet needs that continue to evolve across South Georgian Bay.
We are also proud to share that we have now reached the $12 million mark in our fundraising campaign. That is a significant milestone, and one worth taking a moment to celebrate.
We did not get here alone. This progress, both on the construction site and in the campaign, has only been possible because of the generosity of donors, supporters, and members of our community who believe in what this project will make possible. We are deeply grateful.
As the building continues to rise, so does the need for community support. We are still looking for individuals, families, and businesses to help us bring this project across the finish line. There are still many meaningful ways to get involved and help shape what this Animal Centre will make possible for pets and people in our region.
