The 6th Annual Friends for Life Walkathon was a Sunny Success

Once again we are completely overwhelmed by our amazing community of supporters!!

On Saturday September 23, 2018, the Georgian Triangle Humane Society held the 6th Annual Friends for Life Walkathon. It was a fun sunny day for 200 Walkathon participants and their dogs who walked 3K and 5K routes around Blue Mountain Village to raise funds to save animal lives.

Highlights of day included fan favourites Paw Patrol mascots Marshall and Chase, face painting that had a constant line-up of kids, a pet costume and pet/owner look-a-alike contest that had everyone grinning ear to ear, and the outstanding community turn out  – especially the furry family members!

As donations continue to roll in from Sunday’s event the Georgian Triangle Humane Society is happy to announce that this year’s Walkathon has been the best yet raising just over $50,000!! “It has been incredibly gratifying to see the support and generosity from our sponsors, donors, participants and volunteers that have made the Walkathon so successful. It was beautiful day with lots of fun for everyone including the dogs. This event helps the GTHS to continue to provide hope to homeless, abandoned and abused animals in the Georgian Triangle,” exclaims Monika Merz, 2018 Walkathon Committee Chair. All proceeds raised go directly to helping over one thousand animals that come through the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s doors each year.

A huge huge thank all the individuals who helped make the 6th Annual Friends for Life Walkathon such an amazing event. Thank you to the event volunteers, the Walkathon Committee, and all of our Sponsors. A special thank you to our 2018 Walkathon Committee Chair Monika Merz. This event was only possible because of her unwavering leadership and guidance.
