It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the loss of Ricki Thompson.
This first time Ricki visited the Georgian Triangle Humane Society she was fascinated to learn about the programs and services that were offered to youth. She was an animal lover and spoke fondly of her dogs and their love of the outdoors, but as a teacher, she wanted to understand more about the human animal bond and in particular, the benefit for youth in our community.
Ricki started to donate to the GTHS on an annual basis immediately following our first meeting, giving very generously during the holiday season. Most recently, Ricki made a major gift towards the future Regional Centre for Pets and People, where her name will be recognized for years to come and her legacy will continue.
We will miss her tenacious personality and passion as a donor and as a leader in our community. She was never afraid to share her opinion and her advice on projects, programs and services. The GTHS will honour and remember Ricki thanks to her generosity and willingness to help others, students and animals alike.
