A Purrrfect Birthday Celebration
Wally Skomra decided to celebrate his birthday a little differently this year. Instead of asking for gifts, he requested donations (either in kind or monetary) for the animals at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
“A friend mentioned that for her birthday they collected cat food and donations in lieu of gifts,” Armstrong explained, Wally’s wife.”I thought it was a great idea. It’s too bad more people don’t do this.”
The birthday party was a great success with over $500 worth of food and funds raised for homeless animals.
“We were thrilled to receive Wally and Mary’s call about their birthday celebration. Our shelter runs 100% on private donations, so their gift helps in a big way.” states Marissa Dolotallas, Development and Administrative Supervisor for the GTHS. “We hope more people will explore this option when celebrating birthdays of their own.”
To help with party planning, the GTHS has partnered with a company called ECHOage which helps non-profits from all over the country run charitable parties. To learn more visit http://gths.ca/host-a-party-for-homeless-pets/
