Pub Night for Pets – Rocked!

Our 4th Annual Pub Night for Pets surpassed all expectations – and most importantly, raised a record-breaking $9,882!!

On the eve of Wednesday, Nov 8th, the Harbour Street Fish Bar was jam-packed with over 125 animal lovers who came out to support a great cause – to help raise funds for the cats and dogs at GTHS.

From the amazing selection of silent auction prizes so generously donated by our local business community to the tantalizing taco bar, the entire room was filled with smiles, cheers – and $5 beers from Side Launch and Coors Light – Thank you!

It’s worth noting that the dinner was a Build Your Own Taco bar, complete with a colourful array of salads and sides, which proved to be a gourmet treat to many unsuspecting guests!

Once the band, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, started to play, the night morphed into a life of its own. Toes started tapping, heads bobbing. You could feel the energy rising in anticipation of that all awaited cue… to dance! For the first time in the history of Pub Night, people filled the dance floor as the musicians whisked us away to the tunes inspired by good ol’ classic rock.

Sponsored by Chris Scerri Presents, Horseshoes and Handgrenades is a secret gem of South Georgian Bay. Band members include local artists: Beaker Granger on drums, Jon Zazlow on guitar, Johnny Roy on base, and Chris Scerri on vocals. Two special guests joined the stage to add even more flavour to the evening: Tyler Yarema (Juno award winner) working his rhythm and blues on keys and Gracie, whose vocals command attention while piercing deep within (often compared to Etta James and Amy Winehouse).

We’d like to thank our main sponsor – Mullin’s Pet Market – who supported us from the very beginning, sharing similar values and compassion for the homeless animals we care for.

Gratitude also goes out to Joanne and Jay Lapetina, owners of the wonderful establishment, Harbour Street Fish Bar – who ensured all details were taken care of and that there would be plenty of food for everyone!

Kudos also to our Chair, Joanne Harricks, who helped organize our silent auction which involves a keen and coordinated eye for the small details that make a big difference. Thank you Jo!

And to you our honoured guests, supporters, and donors… Thank YOU! The success of these fundraising events hinge on you, your support, and your mindfulness that it takes a community to help care for over 1,000 cats and dogs who come through our shelter each year.

Thank you to our generous supporters who donated prizes and silent auction items:
