Weeks after the pandemic hit our country, the GTHS decided to modify our Pet Pantry Services to better serve pet owners in need in the south Georgian Bay community by adding personal deliveries for those who were unable to leave their homes due to the lockdowns. We know that when a family is struggling to put food on the table, pets are also impacted, We believe the best place for pets is with their families who love them, regardless of circumstance.
Since launching the Pet Pantry service more than 22, 000 meals have been served to pet owners in need.
“3 years ago, I rescued an adult cat and her two kittens. They are the love of my life. I am so grateful for the pet pantry service, it came to aid during our time of need, giving fur families hope for a better future.” – pet parent for Elsa, Perry & family.
The ability to provide this vital service is the result of community collaboration and generous donors. The GTHS wants to thank our Pet Pantry food sponsors – Purina, the Ontario SPCA out of Midland and Pet Value in Wasaga Beach and Collingwood — our dedicated volunteers who deliver food to those struggling with access, and, to the hundreds of donors, grants and foundations that give generously to provide for those in need.
