Pet of the Week: Lela

Hi humans!!
I’m Lela and I am one happy lady!
I was transferred to the GTHS about a month ago from another shelter, and have been lucky enough to spend the past few weeks in foster care!!
At 8 years old, I’m a lovely senior girl. My foster family says I’m a VERY GOOD DOG!
I’m sweet and very loving and will happily follow you around wherever you go, and I enjoy spending my evenings curled up on the couch, cuddling with the humans. As much as I love naps, I do also love getting out for walks and car rides. Let’s say I’m a relatively active senior! I’m also clever! I know lots of commands and am very well behaved in a home. I really really just want to please you and make you happy. One of my very favourite things is just leaning against you while you scratch my ears and pet my beautiful, soft head.
Okay, okay, now that I’ve told you how wonderful I am, I guess you’re probably wondering why I’m in the “Special Paws” program. Welllll, as with most older doggies, I’ve got some lumps and bumps and the human doctor here at the shelter found out that at least one is “cancerous,” whatever that means. Apparently this cancer thing is slow to spread (yaayyy!!) because it sure doesn’t feel like I’m sick!! I’m definitely hoping that special person will come and give me the wonderful home I deserve for my remaining time. Please, please come meet me. I promise I’m a very good dog and don’t worry, the GTHS team will be happy to tell you all about my medical needs in detail! Plus, being in the “Special Paws” program, means I also have a reduced adoption fee!

If it sounds like I might be just the girl you’re looking for, then come on over to the shelter! I promise I will be your very best friend for the rest of our days together.
The Adoption Counselors here at the shelter would love to introduce you to me and tell you a little more about me. The shelter is open for adoptions every day of the week between 12pm-4pm.
I can’t wait to meet you!
Wags and snuggles, Lela
