New Additions to the GTHS Team

January, 2017

Georgian Triangle Humane Society

Announcement from The Board

One of the most important roles a Board of Directors plays is to ensure continuity of oversight and stewardship.

It is therefore incumbent on the Board to maintain a roster of talented and dedicated Directors to meet both the needs of the day and the future needs of the organization.

In so doing the Board must regularly be recruiting potential new Directors to serve on either the Board or one of its committees. This assists with meeting today’s needs as well as position us for future Directorship as the needs of the GTHS evolve.

To this end I am pleased to announce some recent changes to the GTHS Board and its Committees.

Effective January 19th the following appointments were made:

Jennifer Fisher to the Board of Directors
Paula Lehr to the Board of Directors and the Fundraising Committee
Paul Williams to the Fundraising Committee
Tanis Popowich to the Finance Committee

Jennifer Fisher

Jennifer has been a Collingwood resident for many years and has skied in the area all of her life.

Jennifer is married with three children and three rescue dogs. She has been involved with the GTHS in previous years as a volunteer and brings a tremendous emotional commitment to the work we do.

Jennifer’s professional career has been in nursing where she specialized in Pediatrics and OR nursing and in education where she worked as an elementary teacher at the Stratford Montessori School

Jennifer also brings Board experience from the Children’s Aid Society

Paula Lehr

Paula resides in Wasaga Beach and has a very successful career as a communication specialist, project and event manager and community relations developer.

Paula is currently the Account and Project Specialist with Dockside Publishing.

Paula has had previous experience with the GTHS through her community work and is a strong and passionate believer in the GTHS.

Paula brings a high degree of enthusiasm and energy to the GTHS and will be able to help us fulfill both our aspirations and hers through the work she will do on the Board and Fundraising Committee.

Paul Williams

Paul has recently retired to the Collingwood area following a very successful career in the communication business.

Most recently Paul retired from a 23-year career with Rogers Communications serving at the Vice President level prior to retirement.

Paul has a stellar reputation in his field and was honored by his induction to the Canadian Pension and Benefit Institute (CPBI) Hall of Fame.

Paul brings with him previous Board experience, fundraising experience as well as major event planning and execution experience.

Paul continues to exercise his talents through his private consulting company serving a small group of clients.

Tanis Popowich

Tanis and her husband  live in Wasaga Beach.

Tanis was born and raised in Saskatchewan and has travelled our country extensively following her husband’s military career. During these experiences she has acquired a fondness for rural life and animals.

Tanis is Senior Staff Accountant at Collins Barrow in Collingwood. In this role she offers expertise in accounting, technical matters and general management.

Tanis has extensive professional experience and a considerable background in volunteer experience ranging from Western Canada to the Atlantic region.

All of our new colleagues bring considerable and unique experience to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society in serving our Board and Committees. We are most fortunate to be able to enhance the GTHS with their skills.

On behalf of The Board please join me in welcoming and supporting them as they join our GTHS  team.
