NATIONAL PET WEEK STORY: Sonya and Max

Always the first full week in May, National Pet Week® is dedicated to celebrating the more than 200 million pets that enrich our lives each and every day.  Throughout the course of the year, GTHS features our adopted pets.  This week, we polled our staff at the Shelter to provide stories about how their very own GTHS adopted pet enriches their lives 🙂

Sonya and Max

Max was surrendered to the GTHS Animal Shelter in February of 2014. Upon his veterinary exam it was discovered that he had a grade 2 luxating patella, which meant that his knee cap would slip out of place at random times. This condition required extensive surgery and 8 weeks of strict recovery. This was how Max ended up joining our home.

Once Max was recovered, we knew we were going to be a ‘failed’ foster. We just loved him so much. He has a teddy bear type personality and true to his breed; he is very loyal and protective.

We just love this handsome dog!
