Kitten Shower

It’s kitten season – and right now, we’re expecting more than ever.

In the last two weeks, nine pregnant cats have been brought to the GTHS. Some are nurturing their new kittens under the watchful eye of a foster volunteer. Some are still waiting to give birth, either in a foster home or in the care of the GTHS team, until a placement can be found. And more are coming every single week.

With many months of vulnerable kitten litters ahead, we have a small window to prepare – so that every kitten, and every mom, has the safest possible start.

So, we’re having a Kitten Shower!

From May 2 to 10, we’re gathering support for our youngest residents – and the moms working tirelessly to care for them. Through funds, supplies, and time, you can support their first days, while helping us prepare for what is still to come.

What's Happening Right Now?

Chica's Story

Chica arrived with little known about her story, except that she was carrying a litter of kittens. When she unexpectedly gave birth to five kittens, her fosters were ready with love, care, and a safe environment. Because of your kindness, we were ready when there was no time to wait.

At the end of April, our team was faced with a surrender of seven cats – all believed to be pregnant. Nervous and scared by their new environment, our team had to act fast to secure foster placements. An intake with the potential to see upwards of 40 kittens born, this would put a very swift strain on our already tight isolation room. Your care and swift response meant that we were able to secure foster placements for 5 of them, providing them the peace in a gentle space for them to prepare to give birth.

Before they arrive, we prepare. When they arrive, we respond. Because of you, they’re safe every step of the way.
