A Night Filled with Warmth, Community, and Compassion: Holiday Open House 2025 Recap

Our Holiday Open House last Thursday evening celebrated the remarkable spirit of community that surrounds the GTHS. Supporters, neighbours, and new friends joined us at the Animal Centre to celebrate the season, connect with pets, and share in the gratitude we feel every day for those who make our work possible.

A Journey Through the Animal Centre

This year’s event offered something truly special: guests were invited to explore spaces not typically open to the public. Each room represented a chapter in a pet’s stay at the GTHS, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the care, dedication, and compassion that support every pet’s journey.

From intake to adoption, attendees had the chance to see the work that happens quietly every day, made possible by the generosity of our community.

Of course, puppies Stella and Patrick stole the show, greeting visitors with their adorable energy and reminding everyone why our work matters so deeply.

Sharing Gratitude and Celebrating Community Impact

One of the most meaningful parts of the night was the opportunity to thank our community in person. Your support allows us to provide safety and healing for thousands of pets, and to grow our services so we can help even more families across South Georgian Bay.

We were honoured to receive several impactful contributions during the evening, including:

  • $14,300 from The Masonic Foundation of Ontario
  • $2,000 from Eddie the Bowtie Cat
  • $400 from Grandma’s Beach Treats

These gifts will have an immediate and lasting impact on the pets and people who rely on the GTHS every day.

We were also delighted to welcome special guests Mayor Yvonne Hamlin, Deputy Mayor Tim Fryer, and our long-time friends at Earthtacular, whose presence helped make the celebration even more memorable.

Celebrating Our 50/50 Winner

Another highlight of the night was announcing the winner of our inaugural GTHS 50/50 Lottery.
Congratulations to Barb Draper, who took home an extraordinary $18,187!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our first draw. Your involvement helps support the programs and services that change lives every day.
