Do you remember Holly?!
This beautiful pup was our ‘holiday miracle dog’ last Christmas season.
Holly came to GTHS as a 6 month-old puppy last December after she was found by an animal control officer in Grey County. Emaciated and sick, it was clear that Holly was going to die without comprehensive veterinary support. GTHS immediately got Holly to our partner vet clinic where she received a late night, life-saving surgery to remove the foreign object from her intestine. Incredibly weak, Holly stayed at the hospital over the holiday season to rest and recover. Remarkably, Holly survived a second surgery as well during this stay when her intestine unfortunately lapsed over itself.
Our Holly sure was a fighter though! We just know this strong pup continued to fight because she knew there was a happy ending waiting for her.
Fast forward to almost a year later and Holly (now Luna) is absolutely thriving with her new family!
“Luna is doing great – she’s still growing but we’re managing to get weight on her…she’s 54lbs now! Luna also comes to the barn with me and just loves it. She’s loose at the barn now and on her walks as her recall is pretty solid. I can’t tell you how much her confidence has improved – she’s super smart too. She knows sit, down, wait and is learning to shake a paw. She LOVES her jolly ball. She also plays well with other dogs and generally just follows her doggie brother’s lead when “friends” come over. She continues to do well…. she’s a total ham…. She really has become quite the dog! We love her so much”
We can’t help but smile seeing photos of Luna now, with her doggie brother and herloving mom and dad!
What a happy ending for this special girl!
