The commitment, compassion, and teamwork of making sure pets stay with their people resulted in a wonderful story at the GTHS!
This summer, Zinc’s mom had to move across the country, but she didn’t know how she would be able to take Zinc with her or possibly care for her. She made the hard decision to surrender Zinc to the GTHS, but once she settled into her new home, an opportunity arose which allowed her to care for her beloved kitty once more. Hoping to find some help, she called the GTHS and asked if there could be any chance of getting Zinc back.

GTHS volunteers and staff stepped up to go above and beyond to reunite Zinc with her mom. First was arranging for Zinc to stay in foster care through the GTHS Emergency Boarding program https://www.gths.ca/gths-currently-offering-pet-pantry-emergency-boarding/. Next, Wendy, a fantastic volunteer, offered to have Zinc accompany her on her upcoming trip across the country. Many hours were spent on the phone booking Zinc’s flight.
How does this story end? Zinc is RIGHT NOW on her way to see her mom, who hasn’t seen her in weeks. While Zinc is a special cat with a shy personality, we know this reunion will be full of love and happiness. The happy ending that they both deserve.

Our amazing volunteers and staff truly did go above and beyond to make this reunion happen with their hard work, compassion, and thinking outside the box. For that, we want to say thank you!
