Teresa Collins joined the GTHS as a Shelter Aide, but not long after, transitioned into the role of Cat Adoption Counsellor. Teresa’s sunny disposition makes her the perfect fit for this role, as you can tell how much she enjoys interacting with our visitors and prospective adopters.
What pets do you share your life with?
My two dogs, Daisy (age 5) and her daughter Maple (age 3). Unfortunately, I cannot adopt a cat as my husband is allergic – so I get my cat fix at the shelter.
Where are you from? When did you move to the area?
I was born in Peterborough, England. We first lived in Newmarket when we came to Canada in 2003. We always wanted to live close to the lake, so we moved here in 2016.
Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d like to be able to play the drums!
What is your idea of the best day ever?
It would definitely involve some time with my dogs, but then a nice Indian or Thai dinner, followed by a concert or a show.
What’s your favourite pastime (hobby)?
Spending time with my dogs. Playing Candy Crush and I like to cook, read and crochet as well.
Do you have any phobias or fears?
Jumping from a height or being underwater.
If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be?
Johnny Reid. I love his music, humour, compassion and the stories he tells at his concerts. And as I’m married to Phil Collins I have dinner with my own celebrity every day!
