The GTHS is a registered charity that relies on the generosity of donors, supporters and volunteers to care for approximately 1100 dogs and cats each year.
We have a range of volunteer positions within our organization to suit different ages, lifestyles, schedules and interests.
Marg volunteers at Treasure Tails and has taken on the responsibility of sorting, cleaning, polishing, disinfecting, fixing, carding and pricing all jewellery.
Treasure Tails is a retail store and is just one of the many ways we raise funds to provide neglected, abused and abandoned domestic animals a second chance of a happy life.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING WITH THE GTHS?
I started volunteering in 2008, but took a sabbatical so have volunteered for about 9 years in total.
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
I enjoy the detail of jewellery.
WHAT PETS DO YOU SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH?
I adopted my cat Pookie (previously named Rocco) from the GTHS.WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO THE AREA?
I was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and we moved from Burlington to be close to “Big” water when my husband retired from Air Canada.
WHICH TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE?
I’d like to be able to paint in oils and acrylics.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE BEST DAY EVER?
My best day ever would involve walking in the outdoors with my camera.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PASTIME (HOBBY)?
I love photography
DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOBIAS OR FEARS?
I’m really fortunate as I don’t have any phobias or fears.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY CELEBRITY, WHO WOULD IT BE?
There are in fact two people I’d like to dine with:
- David Attenborough is a Naturalist who has spent his life studying nature, he is full of thoughts and is an exciting speaker.
- Professor Brian Cox is a Physicist who specializes in particle physics and he makes this world understandable and exciting.
