DOG WALKER, DOG ADOPTION COUNSELOR & FOSTER VOLUNTEER
In 2018, 199 cats and kittens were fostered by GTHS volunteers and staff. Although we don’t yet have an official Dog Foster Program (which is due to be launched in 2019) many puppies, senior dogs and medically challenged dogs were also cared for outside the walls of our shelter.
Jane is one such volunteer who provides necessary off-site care of our animals in need. Of being a Foster Volunteer Jane says “It is the most rewarding feeling ever to foster an animal who may have been ill, injured or traumatized; to watch their personalities blossom and then to find them a new home where they will be cared for and loved”.
Jane began volunteering in November 2015 as a Dog Walker, subsequently became a Dog Adoption Counsellor and added fostering to her busy schedule last year.

I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment, but hopefully that will change before too long!

I was born and raised in Nottingham, UK. My husband and I moved to Collingwood when we retired as we wanted to take advantage of the skiing and golf.
WHICH TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE?
I would like to be able to play the piano.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE BEST DAY EVER?
A great game of golf – where I broke 90 then had dinner with friends so I could brag about it, ha ha ha!!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PASTIME (HOBBY)?
My favourite pastimes are travelling and golf.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOBIAS OR FEARS?
Yes – Deep water. I don’t swim well!
IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY CELEBRITY, WHO WOULD IT BE?
That’s a hard one, can I get back to you on that…
