Feature Volunteer: Darlene

Darlene is one of our amazing Treasure Tails volunteers. She is extremely versatile; helping keep the Storage Locker clean and tidy, picks up donations and also helps out in-store. A little birdie reports that she grows the most amazing strawberries on her apple and strawberry farm!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING WITH THE GTHS?
I have been volunteering at Treasure Tails since March 2015.

WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
I like to work with the public, I like seeing all the wonderful and interesting donations that come in and of course, knowing that I am helping the animals.

WHAT PETS DO YOU SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH?
I have a 12 year old Lab Boxer mix named Lacey and I adopted an FIV cat in April named Soda Pop, now known as Lennie.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO THE AREA?
I grew up in Brampton and then moved to west Brampton known as Huttonville, after I got married. We then moved to Collingwood in 2008.

WHICH TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE?
I have always wished I had had my grandma teach me how to knit.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE BEST DAY EVER?
My best day would be a warm sunny day in early summer, walking my dog, then relaxing listening to music and reading a book while someone cooked me food.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PASTIME (HOBBY)?
I just recently started going to the Y to exercise and am finding I quite enjoy it.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOBIAS OR FEARS?
Only spiders.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY CELEBRITY, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Ozzy Osbourne, with an interpreter of course!

Thank you Darlene, for all you do for the GTHS and our animals!
