Feature Volunteer: Carolyn

Carolyn supports the GTHS and cats in a variety of ways, as CCT Support, fostering momma cats and kittens, supporting fundraising events and doing general odd jobs around the shelter. She is also involved with Community Cat programs, making foodbank distributions to feral cat colonies, as well as trapping, neutering and releasing (returning) feral cats – as an OSPCA Certified Trapper.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING WITH THE GTHS?
I have been volunteering at GTHS for 10 years.

WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
I love being part of what GTHS is accomplishing towards general animal welfare.

WHAT PETS DO YOU SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH?
I’ve adopted two cats from GTHS in the past, but now have Sprite – a dog who came from a farm in Wasaga Beach.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO THE AREA?
l was born in Connecticut, USA and was raised on a dairy farm in southeastern Massachusetts. Wanting to live near water, I chose to retire to Wasaga Beach after moving from Brampton.

WHICH TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE?
I would love to play guitar better than I do, but have little time to practice!

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE BEST DAY EVER?
Being with family, especially my hubby Keith.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PASTIME (HOBBY)?
Bicycling, reading and playing with my foster kittens.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOBIAS OR FEARS?
Being in deep water with no life jacket – my doggy paddling is not too good!

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY CELEBRITY, WHO WOULD IT BE?
No celebrities, but I would like to have known more about my deceased father and his life in California.

Thank you Carolyn, for all you do for the GTHS and our animals!
