Feature GTHS Volunteer

Every couple of weeks the GTHS features one of our exceptional volunteers. This week is:

LEE ELLIS

Position: Cat Care, Admin, Reception (volunteering with GTHS for 4 months)

Why Lee Volunteers:
I chose the GTHS, because I love animals, and I thought I might have some skills and help out a charity that I really believe in.

Why do I like working for the shelter?

I love all the furry faces. Volunteering to help the GTHS’ furry friends find their loving and forever homes is the best thing. I really love working with all the staff, volunteers, and general public. Everyone I have encountered has been so very caring, and they all make volunteering a real pleasure. It is both a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. I feel really great knowing that my little contributions help each one of our animals here at the GTHS.

About Lee

I moved here with my 2 kids, 2 cats and a dog in 2013. My kids are my world, one ready to head off to University in September and the other in High school. I have been a stay at home parent for 17 years and volunteering has been a big part of my life and how to give back to the communities I live in. I have worked for an NHL hockey team as well as its charitable foundation as a PA to the President. I left there to move to the UK and USA living in each for a few years, I worked in retail sales before that.

Fun fact

I have a pet from every country I have lived in. Kitty Is from Canada, Bodhi is from Wales, Mouse is from USA. All my fur babies have traveled on planes, trains, and in automobiles. They have passports, and I wonder if our local cats and dogs can understand their accents!
