Every Cat Deserves a Home

Every Cat Deserves a Home

As Maggie & David Lowe know all too well, every cat deserves a home!

In December of 2016, the Lowe Family decided to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals in the Georgian Triangle community. Making a gift to the animal shelter, they allowed the organization to purchase a bank of kennels now placed in the main cat room. There are now six separate kennels which has increased the shelter’s ability to spend one-on-one time with cats that need quiet, uninterrupted meal time. It also allows for cats that are new to the large main adoption room to have the chance be integrated in a more comfortable & stress free environment. With the previous wired cage set up, the new cats would be vulnerable to bullying by cats with stronger personalities. The plexiglass fronts provides total protection and a sense of safety for nervous new cats.

Robyn Underhill, Animal Health & Operations Supervisor explains the impact. “These kennels are a very welcome addition to our main cat room. They are used to integrate new cats in to the room, to feed cats private meals, or to provide a cool down space for a scared or agitated cat. In the past we only had three kennels in the room so we seemed to always be pressed for space. The previous kennels were also “cage-like” and not visually appealing. Every single person who has seen the new condo set up has been amazed at how gorgeous, clean and streamlined they look. They fit in to the room like they were always there and everyone loves them!”

Georgian Triangle Humane Society would like to give a enormous THANK YOU to Maggie, David & Little Miss Wendy for allowing our cats the opportunity to acclimatize to their new environment which ultimately allows them to flourish and find their forever home.
