End of Life Services

End of Life

Our pets are often an important part of our families. When we are faced with the difficult decision to say goodbye to our pet, it is often an emotional and heart wrenching experience. We are never ready, but when we put our pet first, and ourselves second, the decision becomes much easier.

We do recommend that you contact your pet’s regular veterinarian for euthanasia services, if possible. If cost is an obstacle, or you do not have a veterinarian and it’s time to say goodbye to your beloved pet due to old age or illness, we are available to help. We offer caring, compassionate euthanasia services.

The staff at the GTHS are here to assist you with this difficult process. Euthanasia of your pet will be carried out with compassion and dignity. This service is offered by appointment only. If you need an appointment, please give us a call at 705-445-5204 ext. 221, or you can also email us at hospital@gths.ca  (Please provide any veterinary records you may have via email).

Once you have booked an appointment, please download and complete this form and send to hospital@gths.ca.

If the animal is in immediate distress, please seek care at your closest regular or emergency clinic, as we cannot facilitate emergency situations or same day end of life care.

We want to help you with your loss and with the final decisions of your faithful friend. We offer options of private cremation, home burial and communal cremation. With a private cremation, the ashes are placed in an urn of your choice and returned to you.

The cost of sedation, euthanasia, and communal cremation (no urn returns) of a cat is $150.00.

The cost of sedation, euthanasia and communal cremation (no urn returns) of a dog is $200.00.

Individual cremation services are available upon request.

We are here to support you in every way we can. For more information and support surrounding pet loss, please see Pet Loss Support Resources.
