Dogs for adoption

Hi Friends!

My name is Donny! I am a very handsome 5-year-old and about 90lb doggo. I am quite dashing to look at and I am a big and strong boy who gets a lot of attention with my sweet puppy eyes. Truth be told, I can be a bit nervous when meeting new people, so I'm looking for a family that can help me build my confidence and be patient while working with me. I love to play and cuddle with you amazing humans, I just need to get to know you first and make sure that I can trust you, then its time to bring on the love!

I am mostly a laid back dude with a very calm demeanor, but do have my silly streak when I get excited! The GTHS humans say I need to go to a home with no little humans, I hope that's not too much to ask. I don't have any experience with cats. I don't mind the company of most dogs, but prefer to spend my free time sniffing, napping, and spending time with my favourite humans! I am looking for a family who will have realistic expectations, who is willing to be positive, kind and patient with me, and who will continue to work on my training (because I am really good at it)

The GTHS humans have placed me in the Underdog Program, which means they have identified that I have a behaviour that my new family/human and I will need to work on. Don't worry, the GTHS team will provide lots of information and resources to set us up for success, including a free 2-hour consult with the GTHS Behaviour Specialist and a very special adoption kit with lots of amazing things to help me to transition to my new home, there are high value treats, enrichment toys and more that has all been sponsored by Pedigree as part of the Pawsitive match program. The people here at the GTHS have been working really hard with me and I am learning to be less fearful when meeting strangers. I'm also working on the fact that I really don't enjoy when there is a barrier between me and other dogs or people. I am a smart boy and I know that I can do it, I just need love, patience, reassurance, and support from my family, and maybe a little training too!

Because October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and I'm already in the Overlooked Pets program, my adoption fee is has been reduced and I am now available by donation so I can find my forever home that much faster. My adoption fee includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip.
