Community Giving is How Lives Are Saved

As Executive Director of the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, part of my responsibility is to help our supporters truly understand our mission, including its ebbs and flows, as we navigate our capital campaign and the growing needs of our community.

Our work is powered by an incredible staff of 36 and a legion of nearly 400 volunteers who show up every day with compassion and determination. What we do is never about the money, but it is what keeps the doors open, the animals cared for, and the mission moving forward.

Last month, I personally spearheaded the rescue of a tiny, frozen kitten stranded high in a treetop, with the help of an incredible climbing arborist, Joel, from the Collingwood Tree Specialists. I couldn’t turn away. And I’m asking you not to turn away either.

Sometimes saving a life looks like boots on the ground and hands reaching up. Other times, it looks like a dollar donated. Every single contribution matters.

It might be the dollar that helps save a freezing cat.

It might provide food for hungry pets whose families are struggling this month.

It might offer comfort to someone who has just lost a beloved companion and needs the shelter and our people to help mend their heart so they can love again.

And it might help us build a new facility so we can care for even more animals in need.

There are many ways to help, and no one way is more important than another.

You could become a monthly PAW donor, providing us with steady, dependable support.

You could drop by the shelter with gently used towels or blankets or pick up an extra bag of dog or cat food and leave it with us on your way home.

You could shop or donate at our thrift store, Treasure Tails, on Collingwood’s main street, where every purchase helps fund lifesaving care.

Or you could ask our staff about opportunities to be part of something lasting as we plan our new facility: a brick, a bench, a cat room, a dog kennel; a legacy of compassion that will serve this community for generations.

However you give, if it’s time, resources, or financial support, it all matters.

It all saves lives.

Give what you can, when you can. Click here to learn more.
