Adoption Update – Riley

It’s been one year since Riley was adopted from the GTHS. Read about how she is thriving with her new family in her new home:

Tomorrow marks 1 year since we brought Riley home. I can’t believe it!

When Riley first came home, she was a whirlwind of energy who kept us constantly on our toes. She preferred sleeping on the hardwood to her bed, running away from anyone who came close to her with a blanket. Now, as I am writing this, she is curled up on the bed behind me, taking a nap after playing with one of her (many) favourite toys.

Oh how this girl has changed over the past year. Looking back, I can see how much more comfortable she has become, settling into her new, safe life, finally being able to fully relax. Don’t get me wrong, Riley is still a ball of energy! She is always up for an adventure, and even completed a 20km hike with us this fall! She is a very polite girl with the power of the sun in her, expressing all her big emotions in (sometimes) gentle chomps.

When Riley first came home, she was very unsure of the car. Now, the words “car ride” are among her favourites. After all, there are endless possibilities when it comes to car rides. A walk? A hike? The pet store for a treat? Who knows! Did someone say treat? Riley is never one to turn down a treat. Unless it’s fruit, apparently, fruit is gross.

Our girl has come such a long way this past year, learning so much, and teaching us just as much along the way. Thank you for everything you do for these animals, you are all true superheros. I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
