Meet Chip, part of the Harry Potter crew of kittens from earlier this year. Chip has eagerly been finding his place in his new home, and here’s what his adopter had to share with us:
Sweet Neville — now sweet Chip — is doing marvellously well! Better than I could ever have hoped, really.
The sanctuary room lasted less than five minutes, though! I went to give him a bowl of water, and he escaped. Since he clearly already owned the place, and secure in the knowledge that he is very much likeable, he immediately started eating from my 18-year-old tabby’s plate. Thankfully, the older gentleman is a good guy and raised no protest, though I will concede that he gave me a rather puzzled look. A week in, the old man doesn’t just tolerate him, he grooms him.
My three-year-old tuxedo girl was a bit more standoffish, but she simply avoided him for days. Now they play and sleep together.
Chip is a rambunctious kitten, so he does cross a line with them now and then. He gets a hiss for his efforts but seems rather unmoved by it — he’s so likeable after all — so he goes on his merry way and tries again later, and it’s always successful.
I was told that he’s a picky eater. Well, I can’t say I’ve seen any evidence of that!! The issue is keeping him out of the other cats’ food, not getting him to eat.
I’ve had eight cats, and he is by far the cuddliest. We hit it off on the car ride home (maybe it was me singing Baby Beluga to him to make him relax? ), and ever since he’s been here, I seem to have become his favourite napping spot. He’s been sleeping on me since day one!! He also seems to be learning his new name already. He’s an absolute joy.
Thanks to all of you for the important work that you do so well. Everyone was so wonderful to work with. I had recently lost a cat to illness (not just any cat — my soulcat) and I was surprised by how emotional I found the entire process. She made me feel like that was okay, and I truly appreciated it.
Chip, enjoy all of those snuggles – happy tails to you!
