We received this update from Mitzy, a cat adopted in December, who quickly found her place in her new home and family:
Mitzy came to her new home. The bedroom was set up as her sanctuary. I sat on the bed and read my book while she investigated. She found the bedroom toy basket and immediately pulled out the catnip toys (her favourites). She curled up beside me on the bed. By dinner time, she was protesting her confinement. Her tail and ears were up and she seemed calm so I let her investigate the rest of the house. It’s only one floor so she did a very complete job, including going through the cat door to the garage where she found the main litter box. After that, there was no keeping her in the bedroom.
Saturday my daughter, two teenage grandkids, and their golden retriever came for dinner. The retriever lives with multiple cats and clearly understands that cats are in charge and pups should just mind their manners. Mitzy had the choice to stay in the bedroom, but she spent the entire time out with the family. She let everyone hold and pet her. After one hiss at the dog, she ignored him.
Mitzy is so affectionate and confident. She’s a joy already. She is very active and enjoys her new toy selection. Here are a couple of photos of Mitzy in her new home.
Happy Tails, Mitzy! We love to hear how you have settled in, and you look so cozy!
