What a Day! The 13th Annual Walk for Pets Was a Huge Success

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) is thrilled to share the overwhelming success of our 13th Annual Walk for Pets, held on June 14th at Harbourview Park in Collingwood. With a record-breaking turnout of 288 dedicated pet champions walking, running, and fundraising to save animals in need, this year’s event was nothing short of incredible.

Thanks to your generosity, dedication, and community spirit, over $150,000 has been raised – and counting! These vital funds will directly support thousands of pets, enabling the GTHS to continue delivering compassionate care, medical treatment, shelter, and hope. Your involvement has made a tangible and lasting difference in the lives of pets who need it most.

A particularly heartfelt element of the day was our Rainbow Bridge Tribute Display, which honoured 42 beloved pets and raised $9,045. This touching installation gave participants a space to remember the companions they’ve lost, with each tribute featuring a photo and personalized tag. We are so grateful to the generous matching donor who pledged to match all memorial donations up to $4,000, making this beautiful moment even more impactful.

In addition, we were proud to share a major milestone with our community: we are thrilled to confirm that Bertram Construction will lead the build of our Regional Centre for Pets and People! Construction is set to begin this July at the Sandford Fleming site, and we can’t wait to bring you along on this exciting new chapter for the GTHS.

We were also honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including MP Terry Dowdall, MPP Brian Saunderson, Collingwood Mayor Yvonne Hamlin, Interim Board Chair Monika Merz, our very own Executive Director Karen Marsh, and our fabulous emcee Melanie Case. Their support, along with yours, made the day all the more special.

This year’s Walk for Pets had something for everyone! From a bustling Kid Zone with face painting, crafts, cornhole, and jumbo Connect Four, to live music by Mirrage, a vibrant vendor market, and a lively beer garden courtesy of Side Launch Brewing Company, the energy was unforgettable.

Finally, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our incredible community. From delicious pizza and iced coffee, dog treats, pup cups, swag, music, and infectious smiles – we thank each and every vendor, sponsor, volunteer, and participant. Your passion, presence, and positivity helped create a truly memorable event, and we are deeply, deeply grateful.
